About Next Play Ventures

After completing 11 years as CEO of LinkedIn and stepping into the role of executive chairman, Jeff Weiner founded Next Play Ventures to focus more on investing, coaching, and philanthropy. He's joined by Brian Rumao, his chief of staff for the last seven years.

Meet Our Team

The name for Next Play Ventures was inspired by one of the most successful coaches of the modern era, Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Every time the team goes up and down the court and completes a sequence, either offensively or defensively, Coach K says the exact same thing: “Next play." He doesn’t want the team lingering too long on what just took place — whether positive or negative — but rather focused on the present moment and prepared for what's to come.

While building LinkedIn, we often invoked “Next play” as our unofficial mantra. It’s about taking a moment to reflect, celebrate the wins, and learn from our mistakes, before moving forward to what’s ahead.
